HANDS ON HISTORY
AT OLD STONE HOUSE MUSEUM
School-aged children with their parents are invited to the monthly Hands On History being held at the Old Stone House Museum in Brownington on Saturday, March 13, from 10 a.m. to noon, in the Samuel Read Hall House. Participants will learn about pre-electric lighting (lamps, lanterns, rush lights, and candles). They will make their own candles by rendering tallow, preparing wicks, and dipping taper candles. $3 for each child, adults free. Pre-register by calling 754-2022.

Orleans County Citizen Advocacy (OCCA) invites you to participate in a community conversation and “The World in Claire’s Classroom,” part of a film series titled Learn Globally — Act Locally: Empowering Community Action One-on-One. Through the accumulation of personal stories and encounters, viewers are visually confronted with the idea that the greatest barrier for people with disabilities is not their physical or mental disability, but misconceived attitudes toward those with disabilities. This event will be held Sunday, March 14, from 2 to 4 p.m., at North Country Career Center, room 380 (next to NCUHS), in Newport. Donations to support the work of OCCA will be greatly appreciated.

The Third Annual Tour de Kingdom
A one or two day competitive and recreational charity ride to support IROC's Healthy Changes Initiative exercise program for people suffering from diabetes, obesity, or heart disease. Tour de Kingdom is designed for all ages and all skill levels, with routes of 15, 25, 50, 75, and 100 miles. Day One takes you through the legendary lake region of the Northeast Kingdom. Day Two offers another century ride through the Western “hill country” that runs up and over the flanks of Jay Peak through Montgomery Ctr. and back. It will grind your gears!!
